Joe Boylan has spent fifteen seasons on NBA benches, working in player development with Boston, Golden State, Memphis, New Orleans, and Minnesota.

His work concerns how players actually learn. Rather than teaching answers to be remembered, he designs practice environments where skill emerges from the problems a player has to solve — an approach drawn from ecological dynamics and the constraints-led method.

He is co-author of Burn the Playbooks, with Ian Renshaw and David Goodwin, out in 2027. He writes on coaching and skill acquisition at Cognition Coach.
